Vintage Postcard: Yachting on Lake Champlain, Essex, NY (Source: Geo Davis via Rosslyn Redux)
Frequently we share a different historic image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia. Check out the photo on the front of this vintage postcard above! When do you think it dates to? What do you recognize? Any Essex memories it brings to mind?
Here is what the community already had to share:
Matt C. Morian: Maybe that’s Uncle John Nobles cruiser?!
Christine Herrmann: It’s not the SuJack – this is the SuJack tied up at Sandy Point with a boatload of people at the end of summer 1956!

Matt C. Morian: Christine, oh I love that!! My family owned Bobolink cabin from the early ‘50’s thru the early ‘60’s. My parents, Clarke and Isabel(Ibby) were great summertime friends with the Nobles. That is a wonderful photo – I’m sure my folks knew some of them!!
Dianne B Lansing: Looks like the Dower House and Sandy Point.
Christine Herrmann: Early 1950s Regatta which was held off Sherwood Inn’s dock. I see Sandy Point!
Below is the back side of the postcard. It was never sent, so there is no postage date.
