In my twenties I rode motorcycles. I loved motorcycles. Until I nearly killed myself on one. I realized I was pushing my luck if I continued riding. I purchased one last motorcycle, but some of the shazam was gone. That was almost half a lifetime ago!
And yet, autumn weather and foliage bring back that visceral yearning. It’s something about dry, sunny days – even when temperatures are crisp – that pulls me. I can feel that smooth flow of a country road ribbon-ing through bouquets of colorful fall leaves. It’s a nostalgic yearning that may never fade. My personal physical and emotional association with autumn.
Autumn Nostalgia
What’s your most poignant fall association? Is it motorcycles? The smell of burning leaves? Carving pumpkins? Drinking fresh apple cider?
