Our summer reading program got off to a great start when Steven Kellogg kicked it off by reading and illustrating from his wonderful series of tall-tale hero books. We thank Steven for being our library superhero!
The fun continues each Thursday afternoon from 2:00 to 2:45. Mark your calendars for the upcoming events. Note that each one is led by a storyteller extraordinaire!
July 16: Storybook theater – Three Billy Goats Gruff
Led by Maureen Delaughter
Maureen will read the story and then kids will work on a craft and perform their version of the story for the grown-ups.
July 23: Animal heroes
Led by Jane TerLouw
Jane will read about dog heroes and adventures in Alaska.
July 30: Heroes in history: Sybil Ludington and more
Led by the Stan Ransom, retired director of the Plattsburgh library and now professional storyteller.
August 6: Storybook theater – Caps for Sale
Led by Maureen Delaughter
Maureen will read the story and then kids will work on a craft and perform their version of the story for the grown-ups.
August 13: Royal Heroes
Led by Amy Guglielmo
Amy is the author/illustrator of several books that allow children to “touch the art.”
August 20: End of summer celebration
Throughout the summer, kids are encouraged to read, read, read. They can add fill out “hero cards” about the books they read and post them in the children’s room.
