On Thursday, October 27, the Whallonsburg Grange Hall will present a cooking class entitled “Eat Like It’s 1799,” taught by Lela Niemetz, registered dietitian-nutritionist and owner of the nutritional company FoodFeasible.
Eat local like locals past! Lela will guide participants to recreate dishes from the bygone Essex region, using ingredients primarily sourced from nearby farms. Nutritional highlights and prepping techniques with recipes will be provided, and discussion on area food history will occur throughout. To learn more about FoodFeasible, read Lela’s blog on the Essex on Lake Champlain website, and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/foodfeasible
The class will begin at 6pm in the Grange Community Kitchen. Cost is $15 per person, which covers ingredients, instruction, and enjoying the final product. Please register ahead of time by calling the Grange at 963-4170 or by emailing Kate Ritter, Manager, at admin@thegrangehall.info.
