Independence Day is less than one month away! We’ve been getting some questions about the plans for activities in Essex this year. After some investigating here’s what we learned:
The fireworks will take place on July 3, beginning about 9:30 pm off Bluff Point (a point at the southeast portion of Essex hamlet; will be visible over the lake).
The Independence Day Parade will begin at 11:00 am on July 4th. Games, food, and music will follow at Begg’s Park.
Want to be in the parade? Any and all entries can sign up! Floats, vintage and classic vehicles, horses, jugglers, musicians, bicyclists, or whatever creative way to be involved you can think of. For more information or to sign up to participate call Wayne at 518 963-4060.
The annual 6.5K Firecracker Run is scheduled for July 4th at 8:00 am. This year the event will benefit the High Peaks Hospice Rainbows for All Children program. Participate and run or walk to support kids who have experienced a significant life loss. Learn more about the run, stay up to date with news, and learn how to register on the event’s Facebook page or here.
Westport Independence Day Activities
Wondering what will be going on with neighboring Westport, NY? Westport will be celebrating Independence Day on Saturday, July 2. The Parade, chaired by Bobby and Brenda McGee, will start at 5:00 pm. The Firemen’s Pig Roast will take place at 6:00 pm. Fireworks will be at 9:30 pm set off from the Lee Park beach area in front of the treatment plant.
Perhaps there are other activities planned for Essex and/or Westport as well? Let us know!
