Every week we share a different image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia.
Above you can see a collage with snippets from the cover of an old Lake Champlain Transportation Co. ferry brochure. Do you recognize it? What year do you think it dates to? Anything else you can tell us? Below you can see the full cover, which identifies the year as 1961.
The “Route of the Explorers” tag line on the cover calls back to Samuel de Champlain (and others); Champlain was a French explorer for whom the lake is named. He is pictured on an interior page of the brochure (or at least I think that’s who it is meant to be — what do you think?). Check out it out below and learn a little bit of the history of the lake and about the amenities offered on the ferry:
