Did you know that this is the 10th Anniversary of the Champlain Valley Film Society (CVFS)? They showed their first movie in 2003 and since then have screened and shared nearly 170 films with Champlain Valley residents!
“We want to thank our loyal audience for their tremendous support over the years,” CVFS co-founder, David Reuther, said. “When Larry Barns, Thurston Clarke, Bill James and I began this organization, we never imagined we’d reach this milestone.” (Denpubs)
About the Champlain Valley Film Society
The Film Society chooses various current, classic, foreign and independent films that aren’t shown in traditional theaters to increase the culture exposed to the Champlain Valley!
They began by showing films during the summer behind the Essex Inn and at Ballard Park in Westport, NY, during their first two years. However, in 2006, screening shifted indoors, and instead of a single summer series the Film Society focused on fall, winter, and spring seasons.
In 2012, the Film Society began showing all of its movies at the Whallonsburg Grange Hall. They’ve also added some new updated features that improve the viewing experience!
“We recently installed a new HD projector and a movie screen that is twice the size of the old one,” CVFS Treasurer, Kathryn Reinhardt said. “With our new popcorn machine and comfortable new seating, we offer a true movie theater experience.” (Denpubs)
