Please join us for our first concert of the new season on September 10 at 7:00 pm and September 11 at 3:00 pm where we welcome cellist extraordinaire Elizabeth Simkin and friends to the Hand House. This concert will feature the Bach C-Minor Violin Sonata, the Kodaly Cello Sonata, and the Brahms B-Major Trio and will be the perfect kick-off for yet another exciting year of phenomenal events.
This season’s concerts include many exciting appearances which include the return of Chilean pianist Paulina Zamora, Westport’s stupendous duo Alisa Endsley and Russell Ames, internationally-acclaimed violinist Linda Rosenthal, Vermont-via-LA singer-songwriter Gregory Douglass, and the much-talked-about return of Jazzical with virtuoso pianist Joel A. Martin.
All concerts will be held at the historic Hand House in Elizabethtown, NY, and will be presented on Saturday evenings at 7:00 pm and Sunday afternoons at 3:00 pm unless notified otherwise. Please check out our website www.pianobynature.org or call 518-962-8899 for more information.
But first, a little information more about our September artist.
Elizabeth Simkin is currently on the faculty of the Ithaca College School of Music. She has previously served on faculties at Indiana University Bloomington, Earlham College, The Eastman School of Music, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, and the Heifetz International Music Institute. She has played in the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, and is former cellist of the Ariadne String Quartet, Ensemble X, and the Taliesin Trio. Solo performances include the Buffalo Chamber Orchestra, and The New Music Festival. Ms. Simkin has also traveled widely performing international recitals as a U.S. artistic ambassador. She completed her doctoral studies at Indiana University Bloomington while serving as teaching assistant to Janos Starker, and completed her masters degree with Steven Doane while studying at the Eastman School of Music. Undergraduate studies at Oberlin College were with Richard Kapuscinski and Toby Saks. She is also a recipient of an esteemed Tanglewood Music Center Fellowship.
