The Adirondack Center for Writing (ACW) and The Hyde Collection will host a story building masterclass for high school students on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 12:30-4:30 p.m. at The Hyde Collection, located at 161 Warren St, Glens Falls, NY.
This interactive workshop invites teen writers to “walk the plot” within the inspiring setting of the Hyde Collection. Attendees should come prepared with walking shoes, a portable notebook and a pen. The four-hour workshop aims to deepen understanding of narrative construction, revealing the elements that make beloved films and books compelling. It is ideal for fiction and non-fiction writers, as well as avid readers and film enthusiasts. Participants will learn to uncover character motivations and trace plot beats, culminating in the creation of a full story by the end of the afternoon.
“Walk the Plot is for every writer, reader, and film-lover who wants to peel back the layers of story to study the bones beneath,” said Emma Kress, a young adult novelist and the class’s instructor. “Participants will never read a book or watch a movie the same way again!”
The workshop is offered at a pay-what-you-can sliding scale rate of $75-$150. Register at adirondackcenterforwriting.org/walk-the-plot.
