The Adirondack Center for Writing (ACW) is hosting a free dialogue writing workshop, Devising Dialogue: Writing from Plays with LJ Schwartau, on April 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at ACW (15 Broadway, Saranac Lake).
The event is open to the public and will include writing exercises to create dialogue, set scenes and write stage directions. With prompts, participants will create short solo monologues and the group will also devise scenes collaboratively based on a short play reading.
Laura-jean (LJ) Schwartau will lead the workshop. Schwartau is a member of Actors’ Equity and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). As a director, actor and choreographer, Schwartau has worked in Minneapolis, MN and NYC, and has been associated with Pendragon Theatre over the decades. She is a SUNY Plattsburgh Theatre Department faculty professor where she has devised productions and teaches FanFiction Drama classes. She also does production work through The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
