The Adirondack Center for Writing’s Barkreaders series will feature Andrew Weatherhead in its upcoming installment.
Barkreaders offers local writers and readers an opportunity to hear from and connect with new authors. Weatherhead, a poet and collage artist residing in Glens Falls, NY, will read from his newest book of poems, Fudge. A selection of Weatherhead’s collages will be presented alongside his reading. The event will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Adirondack Center for Writing (ACW), located at 15 Broadway in downtown Saranac Lake. Following Weatherhead’s presentation, ACW will host an open mic, offering attendees a chance to share up to five minutes of their writing in front of an audience.
The short, quirky and deadpan poems in Fudge explore the Covid-19 pandemic, New York City, basketball and the strangeness of living in the age of information.
Elaine Equi, author of The Intangibles, said in her review of Fudge, “Andrew Weatherhead’s tasty, bite-sized poems capture the flavor of contemporary life in a way most poetry doesn’t. I can’t think of anyone else who could make a poem about a four hour wait ‘On Hold with NBA League Pass Customer Support’ so thoroughly entertaining. His voice deftly balances breezy with barbed…”
Weatherhead is also the author of three previous books of poetry – $50,000 (Publishing Genius Press, 2020), TODD (Monster House Press, 2018) and Cats and Dogs (Scrambler Books, 2014). More information can be found at: andrewweatherhead.com.
Admission to the event is free, with a suggested donation at the door; RSVP at adirondackcenterforwriting.org/event/barkreaders-andrew-weatherhead.
