The Adirondack Council is calling for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to stop a shipping company from its planned use of tracks deep in the Adirondack Park as a storage and inspection area for oil train tank cars. Plans by the Chicago-based Iowa-Pacific holdings to put the tanker cars on tracks in places like Tahawus, the site of a 19th Century mine and a portal into the High Peaks area poses a threat to the area’s waterways and wild nature.
