At Whallonsburg Grange Hall
Love’s Labour’s Lost is one of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies. An engaging tale of commitment, complications, and consequences, it shows what can happen when abstinence makes the heart grow fonder.
Through their unique “Shakespeare in the Raw” performances with no sets, few props, minimalist costumes, and shortened rehearsal time, ADK Shakes introduces young people and adults across the region to the entertaining and timeless stories of William Shakespeare.
Grange Program Manager Mary-Nell Bockman says, “I am thrilled that the Grange is hosting “Love’s Labour’s Lost” and bringing the Adirondack Shakespeare Company up here. Introducing our audience to this original and very talented troupe is a highlight of our Fall series. Their productions underscore the fact that Shakespeare wrote plays for ordinary people to enjoy — his plays are exciting, funny, moving and very accessible.”
About Adirondack Shakespeare Company
The Adirondack Shakespeare Company (ADK Shakes), a professional theatre troupe that has been entertaining summer audiences for the past four years, is now expanding their programming into the fall and spring seasons. Their first production, Love’s Labour’s Lost, will be presented at four venues in the region, with a final performance at the Grange.
According to Director Tara Bradway, “This is the largest ensemble we’ve ever worked with. Usually our productions employ a cast of twelve, but this show features fifteen incredibly talented professionals,” she said. “We are really looking forward to see what they do with this too-often overlooked play!”
The performance will be enjoyed by everyone, ages 6 and older. Runs approx two hours, with an intermission.
