You’re not the only one who wants to get outside this summer—your pets want out, too. Take steps to keep them safe at the first-ever ADK Bark in the Park event, happening on Sunday, Aug. 22.
The event, hosted by the Tri-Lakes Humane Society and the Adirondack Regional Federal Credit Union, will combine a low-cost microchipping clinic, pet walk and dog-friendly ice cream social.
“When people bring us dogs and cats that are microchipped, we’re able to track their owners quickly and easily,” said Carla M. Stroud, shelter director of the Tri-Lakes Humane Society. “We’re excited to be able to offer this low-cost clinic, which means more of our pets will stay safe when they wander from home.”
The event is a fund-raiser for the Humane Society, a no-kill shelter in Saranac Lake. Pre-register online for $25 at trilakeshumanesociety.org/get-involved/events. On-site registration will be $30 beginning at 11 a.m. at Demars Park in Tupper Lake. Those interested only in microchipping can pay $10 per pet.
“Our members know we’re almost as happy to see their pets as we are to see them,” said Russ Cronin, CEO of the Adirondack Regional Federal Credit Union. (It’s true: good dogs get treats at drive-through windows at the credit union’s three branches.) “We’re proud to support the Tri-Lakes Humane Society and sponsor what’s going to be a fun family and pet-friendly event.”
The pet walk will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the ice cream social. (Vanilla will be available for dogs.) Microchipping will be provided by Dr. Cecilia Scranton of Lakeside Veterinary Clinic in Tupper Lake, and will be available from noon-2 p.m. or until supplies run out.
This event is made possible by the generosity of the Adirondack Regional Federal Credit Union and the following sponsors: Long Run Wealth, Raquette River Brewing, and Shaheen’s IGA. All proceeds benefit the animals who rely on Tri-Lakes Humane Society.

About the Tri-Lakes Humane Society
Located in Saranac Lake, NY, Tri-Lakes Humane Society is a no-kill shelter. Our mission is to advocate for the humane treatment of animals and provide care and shelter for the animals who need us most. Many of these animals have been abandoned, found as strays, or are otherwise homeless and unwanted. We work to reunite lost pets with their owners, find loving homes for the animals in our care, and educate the public about humane animal care, animal laws, and spaying/neutering to reduce overpopulation. We provide shelter & dog control services for communities in our area. Learn more about TLHS at trilakeshumanesociety.org or www.facebook.com/TriLakesHumaneSociety.
