This has been a singularly spectacular autumn. So many sunny “bluebird days”. And the temperature seems to have been more mild than usual as well. In fact, yesterday my bride and I managed an incredibly pleasant windsurfing outing. Not bad for the week of Thanksgiving. Social media has been flooded with handsome “documentary photographs” and autumn 2015 snapshots, so I rounded up a few recent thematically tied (ferry-centric?) highlights.
Late Autumn Ferry Rides
It seems that one of the most frequent Essex snapshots to grace the Interwebs’ social media data streams is the Old Dock Restaurant photographed from the Essex-Charlotte ferry or the Essex, NY ferry dock.
Here it is again…
I’m just waiting on a ferry. Taking pics. Walking the dog. Unaware that my keys are no longer on the tire I left them on. My e brake is not on like I think it is. My car is rolling backwards. I don’t know this until I go for the keys and find them under the back tire. Holding the car from rolling back into the next car in the ferry line. Thank you to the handsome man who pushed my car off the keys. That’s funny. He said. That’s funny. It is. A photo posted by Dunga Brook Diary (@vicki_whicker) on
Aaahhh, yes, the Old Dock Restaurant again, this time in afternoon’s fading light, also photographed from the ferry dock. Great sky!

Seen from another angle (by another photographer), this autumn 2015 snapshot of the Old Dock Restaurant captures one of the spectacular sunsets we’ve been enjoying recently.

Of course, sometimes simplicity is the hallmark of beauty, and there’s no better proof than this snapshot of the Essex-Charlotte ferry dock piers on a tranquil morning.
And here’s an Essex-Charlotte ferry highlight from a recent rough ride across Lake Champlain.
