Five Essex County Residents Named 2019 BlueShield Scholars
BlueShield of Northeastern New York is proud to announce that 101 scholarships totaling $25,250 were made to local high school seniors, including five residents of Essex County, as part of the company’s 2019 BlueShield Scholars Program.
Since the local health plan launched BlueShield Scholars in 2012, they have awarded over $200,000 to more than 800 local high school seniors who are pursuing higher education for a career in the fields of health or human sciences.
Scholarship recipients must exhibit the company’s core values of teamwork, integrity, personal responsibility, passion, excellence and respect, and are identified and nominated by their guidance counselors and administrators.
“BlueShield recognizes the vital role that education plays in the overall health of our community,” said Nicky Chlopecki, Manager, Community Relations, BlueShield of Northeastern New York. “We’ve proudly awarded over $200,000 in scholarships to more than 800 area students since 2012, and will continue to invest in programs that enable our region to grow and thrive.”
Essex County awardees include Reese Celotti, Hailey Cave, Kyle Shambo, Meghan Byrne, and Olivia Politi.
