TV Series Showcases New York State’s Craft Beer Revolution
“Brewed in New York,” the 13-part TV series emphasizing the growth of New York State craft beer, recently won two Emmy Awards. Pinpointing New York as being near the center of the craft beer revolution, the show visited multiple craft breweries across the State, including 28 brewery members of the New York State Brewers Association (NYSBA). The success of the show demonstrates the work of NYSBA to recognize New York State in the industry as a quality craft beer producer and tourism driver.
The beer tourism series traveled across the State’s vacation regions, inspiring audiences and beer enthusiasts to explore all that the New York craft beer industry has to offer. Each 30-minute episode, which aired on public television across the State in 2018, uncovered how the unique geography, agriculture and character of the various vacation regions show through in the breweries’ personalities and beer.
These episodes represent the 445+ craft breweries that generate $5.4 billion in economic impact, as announced by NYSBA in their economic impact report, and rank New York as fourth in the country for number of craft breweries. In featuring some of the best beer being poured in New York State, many of these breweries, NYSBA board members and NYSBA executive director, Paul Leone, spent time with hosts Matt Archambault and Maya Contreras.
“It’s the people and passion that are putting New York on the craft beer map,” said Paul Leone, executive director, New York State Brewers Association. “We thank ‘Brewed in New York’ for showcasing the local communities and characters that are brewing the high-quality craft beer we’ve come to know and love in New York State.”
Leanne Robinson-Maine, writer/producer on the show said, “Much like the brewers we met across the state, those of us on the production team have a strong passion for our craft. We feel grateful to receive recognition from our industry peers on the content we produced from here in our hometown. Sharing these stories in a compelling format helps prove that great beer – and great television – can come from all across New York State.”
