Frank White and Christine Babson have been visiting Long Pond in Willsboro for their whole lives. When they inherited their parents’ properties, they considered ways to continue that enjoyment while protecting the lake they loved. They focused on a 25-acre parcel they owned at the southwest corner of the lake. It contained part of stream and wetlands by the lake. Plus, it had a nice little forested ridge that would make a beautiful building site. The only problem was that a house there would severely alter the pristine view people enjoy seeing across the lake.
So, they approached CATS’ Long Pond Conservancy Program about conservation opportunities and settled on making a simple donation of the land. Thank you Frank and Christine. You helped protect Long Pond and provided an opportunity for a new trail people can access via the Carver Road Trail.
We are still accepting applications for the position of operations and development manager. If you, or someone you know, is interested in a job that is diverse, fun, and interesting, and would you like to be part of conserving land and making trails for people to enjoy, then consider this great job with Champlain Area Trails.
We are seeking a creative, well-organized, positive individual for the full-time position. Responsibilities include: Maintaining financial records and donor databases; fundraising support; writing press releases, emails, grant proposals, and social media communications; and maintaining CATS’ website. Requirements include: excellent communication skills; attention to detail; financial experience; a sense of humor, and good working knowledge of QuickBooks, MS Office Suite, and Word Press.
