Champlain Area Trails (CATS) is hosting a Wilderness First Aid Training seminar on Saturday, June 29. The training will be held at the Essex Fire House in Essex, NY, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. Cost of the class is $30 a person. You must register to attend.
About Wilderness First Aid Training
CATS is pleased to sponsor this class for trail volunteers, hike leaders, and anyone 16 years and older. The class includes a “back country” or “wilderness” component to traditional first aid training so people are prepared in case there are injuries on trail projects and hikes. The 4-hour class teaches skills to assess and treat cuts, bleeding, muscular and skeletal injuries, anaphylaxis, shock and medical related illnesses.

Kevin Shaw, owner of Split Rock Outfitters & Guides, will be your instructor. Kevin is a Critical Care AEMT, Wilderness EMT, NYS Certified Instructor Coordinator, and First Aid Instructor. Check out the organization’s Facebook page.
