It’s an honor and privilege to have been recruited by the Moriah Chamber of Commerce to kick off their two-day “Champ Day(s) 2022” festivities with one of my film screenings. On Friday, Aug. 5th at 7 pm, I will present my 16mm print of the 1954 sea-monster classic “Monster from the Ocean Floor,” essentially a boy-meets-girl adventure in the cryptozoological realm. The one and only Roger Corman began his impossibly prolific career with this movie (eventually becoming film history’s most influential producer, now 96 and still going strong).
“Monster from the Ocean Floor” is actually less about a sea monster than sheer on-location ambiance, with an atmosphere evocative of the mystery and sense of wonder stirring imaginations around the world (not just regionally) about Lake Champlain’s oldest and most enduring folklore – the legend of Champ, the Lake Champlain Monster.
The free screening’s location will be at Bulwagga Bay Beach, Bulwagga Drive, Port Henry. Please register planned attendance at serious_61@yahoo.com or text 518-802-1220.
