The Child Care Coordinating Council of the North Country (CCCCNC) is currently offering two training sessions to early care and education providers of children up to age five: Nourishing Healthy Eaters and Physical Activity Learning Sessions (PALS).
These programs are offered at no cost to participants, thanks to support from The Heart Network’s Creating Healthy Schools & Communities program, which is funded by the New York State Department of Health. Any childcare provider and/or program in the North Country may attend or send staff. The sessions are hosted online through Zoom on selected evenings, advertised in advance through CCCNC’s Professional Development Calendar, which is issued quarterly, and distributed via email and regular mail, as well as available on our website.
“The more we help foster the development of young children, the more our families and communities thrive,” said Sara Allen Taylor, project director for CCCCNC’s Child Care Services. “That’s why we’ve partnered with The Heart Network’s CHSC program to deliver trainings to early care and education providers across the North Country. The goals of our trainings are to increase provider knowledge and enhance practices promoting physical activity and nutrition for young children. This helps providers meet recommendations for development and health, as early childhood sets the stage for habits that may affect a lifetime.”
If providers are interested in learning more about the trainings, or would like technical assistance related to nutrition and/or physical activity — as well as on any other topic related to their field — they can contact Sara Allen Taylor at sallentaylor@ccccnc.org.

The goal of The Heart Network’s Creating Healthy Schools & Communities (CHSC) program is to increase access to healthy food and opportunities for physical activity.
