I’ve just confirmed with the box office at The Depot Theatre that the Careless Love actors and crew are ready for show time. Tonight at 8:00 PM the 2012 season kick off with a world premier of Ryan G. Dunkin’s energetic musical, directed by Allegra Libonati and musical direction by David Finch.
Following the show the audience is invited to celebrate with the cast and crew for the first of four opening night receptions this season. If you’ve never attended, you’ve missed out on one of the highlights of summer! It’s thrilling to meet the real people behind the magic after being dazzled in the theatre, and I find that the actors are always eager to meet the audience.
The Depot’s new Managing Director, Angel Wuellner, is already smitten with Careless Love:
“This first show… is living up to the hype in rehearsals… I left the practice singing the songs, and that is what you want, people leaving a musical singing the songs.” (Valley News)
Fans of recent Depot performances, Hank Williams: Lost Highway and Always, Patsy Cline are sure to enjoy this story of lost dreams and second chances told through and around popular bluegrass, gospel and folks songs played live onstage by seven performers.
Sean Sullivan returns to his hometown after 15 years behind bars for being in the wrong place at the wrong time only to find his true love on the eve of her wedding to his friend. What is the secret behind Sean’s crime that’s been hidden for so many years? Can he make Carol Anne fall back in love with him before it is too late? (The Depot Theatre)
I’ll find out tonight! I look forward to seeing you before the show or during the opening night reception.
If you haven’t purchased tickets, it’s not too late. Careless runs June 22 through July 8 and you can reserve tickets ($27/person) online at www.depottheatre.org or by calling the box office at (518) 962-4449.
