The Depot Theatre has had a successful season this year! The first two shows gave the audience a taste of different genres with the bluegrass drama Careless Love and wacky Holmes parody Hound of the Baskervilles.
Now the theatre’s third show this summer is hitting yet another note with The Marvelous Wonderettes. This show takes the audience back in time to experience a sugarpop musical filled with songs of the 50’s & 60’s.
Introducing the Marvelous Wonderettes
Meet Betty Jean Reynolds (Lynn Craig), Missy Miller (Liz Griffith), Suzy Simpson (Jamie Kelton), and Cindy Lou Huffington (Casey Shea) as they perform at their 1958 senior prom.
The girls form the school’s entertainment of the night in their singing group: the Marvelous Wonderettes. They sing about love, sometimes humorously stealing the spotlight from each other, but encouraging each other to express feelings toward that special someone they admire!
Through song we come to know about schoolgirl crushes, boyfriend stealers, rivalry, and young love…This sweet and humorous performance will have you humming along to old familiar songs.
Throughout the night we learn more about each quirky girl and their dreams. And of course, the most important question will be answered: Who will be prom queen?
1968 Reunion

After intermission, we reunite with the girls 10 years later at their class reunion. Has the transition from the 50’s to the 60’s changed the girls? Have friendships withstood the test of time? What has happened with the young romances we learned about in the first act?
In this half of the show, we learn of lost loves and strained relationships, but not all is tainted. Some relationships are renewed and others mended from the brink through the power of song!
In the end, though the girls had faced hardships the Marvelous Wonderettes come out strong! You’re sure to leave the theatre with a smile on your face.
