The Annual Doc Lopez Run For Health is occurring for the 35th time on Saturday, March 21 this year. The daylong event includes a 13.1 mile run, 5K and one mile walk starting from locations in Keene Valley and Elizabethtown, NY.
Created by Doctor Robert Lopez, a beloved veterinarian in the region and also the torch bearer for the Lake Placid for the Winter Olympic Games, the run is now organized by his daughter Susan Allott. And this year, she has joined with the Elizabethtown Community Hospital Auxiliary, which is helping with organizational efforts.
“We are trying to boost participation by both runners and community members. The more people who are aware, the better the event will be for the runners. We’d like to get as many people lining the road between Keene Valley and Elizabethtown as we can. A good event for the runners means more participation in the future.” ~Jane Hooper
