Lake Champlain Transportation has announced that the Essex-Charlotte ferry booth will close and that the crossing will again sell tickets aboard the ferry this winter beginning in January. See their message below for more details:
As in previous years, tickets for the Charlotte-Essex crossing will be sold exclusively on the boats during the months of January through March. In order to avoid some of the past problems, we will no longer be accepting Commuter Cards during these months. We encourage all of our regular customers to purchase Commuter Books which give you the same discount as the Commuter Card. The added benefit of using Commuter Books is you will not have to leave your vehicle!
During these months, Commuter Books will be available for purchase on the boat for cash or check only. Credit cards may be used by calling the office at 802-864-9804 on weekdays between 8am and 4pm or by coming into the office in Burlington. Commuter Books purchased by credit card can be picked up at the office or sent by certified mail (for the cost of postage). [LCT]
