About Key Winds Trio
Since its formation in late July 2006, Key Winds Trio has performed in a variety of musical settings and venues, from private functions to benefit concerts and local concert series. The Trio, comprising Plattsburgh State Music Faculty Janice Kyle (oboe), Janine Scherline (clarinet) and pianist David Carpenter, enjoys performing in intimate settings that allow them to connect with their audiences. Key Winds has performed locally in the “American Preservation Concert” at Memorial Chapel in Plattsburgh, was a featured ensemble for a benefit concert for the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts, and has performed concerts at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Peru, Plattsburgh Presbyterian Church, and Lake Forest Retirement Community and Wake Robin Retirement Community in VT. The Trio has also toured to Western, NY and Erie, PA, and has been part of the Essex Community Church Performance Series for the past three years. Key Winds was also pleased to perform for an episode of Mountain Lake PBS‘s “Art Express” Series.
Key Winds Trio’s repertoire includes a rarely heard work written specifically for the combination of clarinet, oboe and piano by Romantic composer Edouard Louis Bernard Destenay, a recent commission for the Trio entitled “Capriccio,” written by Gregory Wanamaker, composer at SUNY Potsdam as well as works by Brahms, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, William Grant Still, Astor Piazzolla, Libby Larsen and Henri Zagwijn.
