Review this year’s schedule of activities planned for Independence Day in Essex, NY!
The fireworks will take place on Tuesday, July 3, beginning at dusk, which will be about 9:30 pm. The fireworks are shot off Bluff Point (a point at the southeast portion of Essex hamlet; and they will be visible over the lake). Be sure to get to Essex early and find a good viewing spot! Fireworks are sponsored by the Essex Fire Department.
All other activities including the parade will take place on Wednesday, July 4th.
The annual 6.5K Firecracker Run is scheduled for July 4th at 8:00 am beginning at NEW Health with registration starting at 7:30 am. The entry fee is $10. This year the event will benefit the High Peaks Hospice Rainbows for All Children program. Participate and run or walk to support kids who have experienced a significant life loss. The Kids Run will start at 9:00 am at the Essex Ice Cream Cafe, with registration at 8:45 am. It’s free to participate and all kids who race will receive a coupon for a free ice cream. A Patriotic hymn sing will occur at St. John’s Church at 10:00 a.m.
At 11:00 a.m. the Parade steps off onto Route 22 from Blockhouse Road into the hamlet of Essex.
From 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, games and activities will be hosted at Beggs Point Park. They are sponsored by the Essex Fire Department.
