Today we’re showcasing a whimsical Essex landscape doodle from our live performance at The Depot Theatre on July 23, 2013. This detailed illustration was created by Pam in response to the question, “What comes to mind when you think of Essex, NY?”
Essex Landscape Doodle
Pam’s Essex landscape doodle combines several popular Essex icons like the Essex-Charlotte ferry, Champy, and our majestic Adirondack sunsets. But this carefree Essex landscape transcends the straightforward and representational doodles I tend to create. Pam has incorporated both the sun and a star creating an almost fairytale-like, timeless quality. Perhaps it is the first star, flickering high above Essex as the sun sets into the Adirondacks. Or perhaps the star is like the heart and the flower blossom floating in the heavens, symbols of how the doodler feels about Essex. Doodling frees us to mix and match whatever we wish, liberating our hopes and impressions and nostalgia through the simple act of allowing thoughts to tumble out unedited, unrestrained.
Thank you, Pam! I hope that your beautiful doodle will inspire others to answer the question, “What comes to mind when you think of Essex, NY?” with doodles of their own.
