Following and sharing Essex news and event just got easier!
Remember when one story a day was the norm on the Essex blog? Nowadays a single story day is the exception, a testament to all of the exciting happenings in and around Essex, NY. Welcome to the Essex Renaissance…
Many readers have signed up to receive Essex on Lake Champlain posts by email since we began blogging in June 2011. While that was an ideal way to stay in the loop when we were only publishing one post per day, three or four posts in your email becomes overwhelming. We knew it was time to give you a more user-friendly way to follow the Essex blog without drowning in email.
Essex News Daily/Weekly
The two most common requests we’ve received are for a daily and/or a weekly Essex news digest. Done! As of this week we’re converting all existing subscribers over to the daily digest, and all new subscribers will be able to select their preference for daily and/or weekly Essex news updates. (Note: At the top and bottom of your emails is a link to update your subscription information at any time.)
Each day at 5:00 pm we’ll email the daily digest with all of the stories published in the last 24-hour cycle. (To view an example, you can look at last Friday’s daily digest.)We’re emailing the weekly digest on Sundays at 9:00 am, but let us know if there’s a better time and we’ll change it to suit the majority. Note that we’re keeping the format for both as “light” as possible to ensure accessibility. Instead of full stories with images (which can overwhelm some email services) we’re emailing text excerpts. But don’t worry, the full story is just a click away. Just click the titles to read the full stories, view the photos and add comments.
Essex News Gets Social
We’ve also made it easier for you to share Essex news with your friends. At the bottom of every email you can find the “forward to a friend” link which makes it quick and easy to share events, stories, photos, etc. In addition, you can easily share stories directly through your favorite social media networks. Just click on the Facebook, Twitter or Google+ button following each story excerpt and voilà!
Thank you!
Thanks for telling us what you wanted. We hope that you’re happy with this new way to follow Essex news and events. But even if you’re not, shoot us a message and let us know how we can improve Essex on Lake Champlain. We’d love to hear from you. And don’t forget, you can contribute a story to the blog at any time.
