Essex Theatre Company‘s first production of the summer is a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Emily Madan. A “reality TV” version of this romantic comedy is Emily’s inspiration.
Emily explains that this production is a reality TV show within a play. The audience will be seeing the whole production crew as well as watching the whole process develop. (Lake Champlain Region)
Her cast of ten with two non-speaking roles is now in rehearsal. Stage manager and lighting technician is Erin Nihil, with costume builder Betsy Madan.

Tickets for the plays are $12 at the door, $10 pre-pay. Tickets for the benefit are $30 at the door, $25 pre-pay. To take advantage of the pre-pay rate send a non-refundable check for the correct amount to:

Other Upcoming ETC Events
The second event of the summer is the ETC Benefit, Broadway Through the Years with Chinese auction on Saturday, July 26, at 7 pm at the Masonic Lodge, Essex. The benefit will feature hors d’oeuvres, dessert, complimentary beverages, and a cash bar. Antonette Knoedl, director of our August show, will also be directing Broadway. The show is cast and is currently in rehearsal.
On Saturday, August 3, at Downtown Essex Day, ETC will have a tag sale, a rehearsal open to the public for Becky Shaw, and a chance to buy tickets to that show.
Becky Shaw, a comedy of romantic bad manners, is being cast and is to be presented August 16, 17, 22, 23, 24 at 7 pm and August 18 at 2 pm. The show’s focus in on dysfunctional family and personal relationships and has a parental warning for adult language and content.
