Spinal Integration Workshop

Saturday April 27th
9am-12noon
At The Westport Heritage House
$40 if registered by April 20th or $50 after the 20th

Our spine includes the bones of the axial skeleton from the skull to the coccyx (tailbone). It gives us our sense of midline and serves as a conduit between earth and sky. The spine shapes some of our earliest movement patterns and serves as an underlying support for more complex movements throughout our adult life.

In this workshop, we will explore the pathways of weight that travel through the spine, leading to balanced posture and integrated spinal movement. We will also explore ways to carry this support into symmetrical and asymmetrical Yoga postures.

This workshop is ideal for students of Yoga or other body-mind disciplines or anyone interested in deepening their experience of integrated movement.

Weekly Yoga Classes

Starting in May…

Mondays 6-7:15pm
Tuesdays 9:30-10:45am
At The Westport Heritage House
$50 for a 5-week pass (to be used within 2 months)
Or $12 drop-in

Classes are an inquiry-based, integrative approach to Yoga. Attention is given to anatomy, internal alignment and the understanding that all bodies manifest their own unique expressions of the asanas (postures). Props and variations are utilized so that all bodies can feel the full benefit of the practice.

You are welcome to bring your own mat, if you wish. Otherwise, a full studio of props is available for all classes and workshops.

About Emily

Emily Abruzzi began studying Yoga in 1997 while simultaneously studying dance and other somatic movement practices. Her interest in physical arts and her desire to work more therapeutically led her into massage and bodywork in 2003.
Two years later, after suffering from a spinal injury, she re-immersed herself into her Yoga practice as a way to work with her own injury and as a way to reconnect with the body wisdom that comes out of stillness and self inquiry.

Emily has studied massage at The Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy, The Swedish Institute, and The Pfrimmer Institute for Corrective Muscle Therapy. She also holds certificates from The School for Body-Mind Centering® in Embodied Anatomy & Yoga and Embodied Developmental Movement & Yoga and is a graduate of Donna Farhi’s advanced Yoga teacher training.

About Emily Abruzzi

Emily is a Licensed Massage Therapist through New York State, a Registered Yoga Teacher and also holds a BA in Theatre and Dance. She began studying Yoga in 1997 while simultaneously studying dance and other somatic movement practices.
