For those who take frequent trips across Lake Champlain on the Essex-Charlotte ferry, you may be interested in acquiring the LCT commuter card to save some money. This card is especially useful since the discontinuation of the round trip tickets. There is a 30% discount on one-way tickets with the card! Learn more about how the commuter card works here.
However, there is an upcoming monetary change that commuter card holders must be aware of! As of May 1, 2013, the minimum purchase and recharge on this card is $200.
Effective May 1st, 2013, there will be a $200.00 minimum purchase for Commuter Cards – new cards as well as recharges. The administrative costs to manage and service these cards have exceeded our expectations. Our frequent customers are important to us and we want to maintain the current rate of discount. Taking this action will allow us to do that.
In addition to Commuter Cards, there are also 20-Ride Commuter Books available if that better suits your needs. The discount is the same on both options.
For any questions or concerns, please call our office at (802) 864-9804. (LCT)
To purchase a rechargable commuter card, download an application and drop it off to one of the LCT ticket booths or mail it to: Lake Champlain Transportation, 1 King Street, Burlington, VT, 05401. You can refill your already purchased card at any LCT crossing or by calling the Burlington office at (802) 864-9804.
Just a reminder that our Essex-Charlotte crossing is currently on its early spring schedule and the ferry arrives on the hour, although it will soon be shifting to its spring schedule. Keep an eye out for the new schedule.
