For anyone who doesn’t expect to be too preoccupied recovering from First Night, take note of Second Night Fright Delight! Here’s the lowdown. I’ve been informed by my friend and former Hollywood child star Pat Cardi (of “Gunsmoke” and tons of other vintage TV) that his personal 16mm print of his 1973 indie feature “Horror High” (aka “Twisted Brain”), which he’s kindly loaned me, needs to be shipped directly to the friendly folks at Vinegar Syndrome to master their forthcoming release of this exploitation classic. Legend has it they’ve unsuccessfully tried to secure a film print for this purpose from sources including Code Red and (what remains of) Crown International Pictures, the now-defunct original distributor. Apparently desperate, they’ve gone to its star, Mr. Cardi, who in turn has alerted yours truly.

Thus, I’ve just scrambled to organize a public screening that is not to be missed, the only opportunity to experience, fresh from the can, a one-of-a-kind celluloid copy of “Horror High” bordering on a ‘work’ print. For instance, one scene begins with the clapper-board guy stepping in and out of view! Oh, and there’ll be FREE refreshments not to mention FREE admission (donations welcome) on the marquee as well.

Moral of story: As “Jackie” in RISKY BUSINESS would say, be courageous…ditch your usual Second Night itinerary and c’mon over for the making of exploitation-film history as we see this unique print of “Horror High” off to its new lot in life. By the way, surprise grindhouse-friendly co-features will be on the evening’s program to take us beyond the witching hour…how kewl is that?
