This year, NEW Health organized the 6.5K Firecracker Run on July 4th, which included 106 runners and walkers who raised $800 for the Essex Fire Department. NEW Health challenged the Essex community to find over one hundred participants for the annual Fourth of July event and it would match the four hundred dollar race proceeds for the Essex Fire Department donation.

“I was moved hearing about the EMT staffing shortages and budget challenges at the Essex Fire Department and thought about friends who have been literally saved by our volunteer fire squad,” says NEW Health co-owner Brian Trzaskos. “We love partnering with local non-profits and I thought this would be a great way to show our gratitude to the Essex Fire Department.”

Since opening in 2013, NEW Health practitioners have partnered with several area non-profits including Ausable Valley Booster Club, Champlain Area Trails, Essex Farm Institute, High Peaks Hospice, Lakeside School, Lake Champlain Waldorf School, North Country SPCA, Paine Memorial Library, Wadhams Fire Department, and Willsboro Drama Club providing benefit classes, workshops, and fundraising auction items.

“Part of the fun of living in a small town is supporting our neighbors who are doing great things,” says NEW Health co-owner Ani Anderson. “Seeing the community come out for the Firecracker run knowing NEW Health would match the proceeds in donation was really inspiring!”
