After a several years off, the Jay Day Celebration will back on Aug. 21, on the Jay Village Green from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., a resumption of a popular festival that had once served as a fundraiser for the Jay Entertainment and Music Society, commonly known as JEMS, based at the Amos and Julia Ward Theater.
The last Jay Day was held about a decade ago, but it’s being revived this year by the Au Sable Valley Rotary Club with the intent of creating another fun event in the Town of Jay, while supporting small local businesses by providing them with an opportunity to sell their products.
Jay Day will feature the music of the Gray Blues and the Red Rose Hillbillies. Then, in the evening on the green, Big Boss Sausage will perform a free concert beginning at 6 p.m., sponsored by JEMS.
During the day there will be food from Freddy B’s Grill, and craft beer from Hex and Hop Brewery. Vendors will be selling a wide variety of crafts, as well as food and baked goods, taxidermy and well-being services. Children’s crafts and games and historic Town of Jay photography will round out the day.
The event is being held in coordination with AquaFest on Lake Everest in Wilmington.
