Spring has finally sprung. At the start of last weekend it seemed that we were in the midst of the winter that wouldn’t end, by sunday afternoon the fields were clear and muddy with the only snow hanging in the northern crevices of buildings and stands of trees. We’ve gotten a few more days of sugaring in during the week and have syrup for the share tonight! We’re hoping for a run today. The rest of the forecast, however, doesn’t come close to a chilly night. Perhaps a short and sweet, though not terribly plentiful, sugaring season.
The greenhouse is filling up quickly—the onions are getting tall and the tomatoes and early summer brassicas are all up and really taking off. The smell of damp, warm soil is back in the air, and with it the promise of field work and tasty green morsels coming soon.
