Gratitude For Wellness is expanding and we are so excited to share our news! Over the next few weeks I’ll be sending out updates highlighting the new talent that will be working out of the wellness center.
Today we’re highlighting a special practitioner from Vermont. Her name is Allie Bauer and she’s been in the healing arts for over 30 years. For the past 9 years Allie has focused on myofascial release therapy.
The fascia in our body is what covers and protects each organ system and what connects all of our insides down to the cellular level. This particular therapy focuses on the fascia systemically in our body and targets chronic pain, symptoms of Lyme disease, pre and post surgery pain, emotional and physical traumas, and range of motion issues.
Allie’s previous visit to Gratitude was an amazing success for our clients and we are thrilled that she is returning to share her gift.
Below is Allie’s write-up on myofasical release therapy:
“Myofascial Release is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.” It is a therapeutic bodywork approach which allows the therapist to look at each client as a unique individual. Each client directed treatment flows with the communication of the body-mind and incorporates a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapies.
Each session is scheduled for 120 minutes. We begin with an observation of posture in standing, viewed from the front, sides and back. This allows for an assessment of where restrictions of the immense connective tissue, or fascial system, may be pulling the body off center, causing imbalances, compensations or holding patterns. We move through hands-on treatment, and end the session with self-treatment homework ideas, techniques and support.
This is a hands-on approach which utilizes gentle sustained pressure into areas of the body where restrictions are observed or palpated. As this pressure is maintained, the amazing body maps out where restrictions are causing compression on pain sensitive tissues, or restricting normal fluidity of motion and function.
Myofascial Release is excellent therapy for repetitive stress issues, pre and post surgery, emotional and physical traumas, acute and chronic pain, etc. It has been helpful in treating headaches, TMJ, back issues, mental imbalances, neck and shoulder pain, and unresolved ailments of all kinds—known and unknown to our conscious mind.
Because this approach addresses the fascial system, which is a three-dimensional web of connective tissue, encasing every single other tissue of the body (muscle, nerve…) down to each individual cell (the cellular level), it truly is a whole body approach. The fascial system connects everything, everywhere, from the top of the head to the tips of the toes, front to back, diagonally in every direction. When one area of the body is experiencing pain, there may be restrictions from another, connected area, causing the dysfunction or compression. Skillfully releasing layer upon layer, barrier upon barrier of deep connective tissue restrictions allows for the body to restore balance, fluidity, normal motion and optimal functioning.
The body seeks balance for well-being. As you gain mobility, achieve centeredness and restored fluidity of form, you feel better, function better, move better. The body-mind complex, feeling free from pain, restrictions of motion and dysfunction can establish a healthier state of peace and inner tranquility, manifesting in a pain-free, active lifestyle!
I look forward to meeting you and helping you along your healing and healthy journey!
