The Ticonderoga Historical Society will celebrate the Halloween Season with a free movie on Friday, October 6 at 7 p.m. at the Hancock House, 6 Moses Circle, Ticonderoga.
“We will be watching The Uninvited, a 1944 movie that centers around ghostly happenings in a seaside Gothic mansion,” said Hancock House Managing Director Diane O’Connor. “This should not be confused with a more recent remake. The older movie is much more suspenseful and promises to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat, without a lot of gore and violence.”
O’Connor went on to note that the film features several significant stars and character actors of the era, and illustrates the black and white film format in beautiful style. In addition, the musical soundtrack was memorable. The Uninvited was nominated for an Academy Award.
The program will be held in the lower-level program room of the Hancock House. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made by calling 518-585-7868 or via e-mail to tihistory@bridgepoint1com. Free popcorn will be served.
As a regional institution dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain Region, the Ticonderoga Historical Society encompasses a four-story museum with substantial collections and research library, as well as an active educational program series available for community organizations.
