Each Monday we share an Essex photo or artifact on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia. In honor of Independence Day I’ve shared this old photo taken during a 4th of July parade of the past. Looks like it may be close to the end of the parade as it passes the Essex Inn.
When do you think the photo was taken? If you can identify any of the children on the float (or maybe even spy yourself?) then perhaps you can estimate the year? We’ve had one person make some guesses below:
Deb Lansing: 1986? Brett Carter? on front right corner, Andy Eads in yellow tank top.
Do you agree? Can you identify anyone else? What do you think the children’s float is representing? I can make out “Arts & Crafts” on the first sign, but I cannot see what the other two say.
Last week I shared a different parade photo here if you’d like to take a look: Old Photo: Town of Essex Youth Commission Float.

Behind the float for the youth commission is my daughter Sandy pulling a small wagon with my youngest Amanda and her cousin. We were celebrating a family reunion for the Gardner clan.
