I’ve been scribbling Essex doodles for months. Fancy buildings. Falling down buildings. Quirky characters who pass by and through both. And some who don’t…
Next Tuesday at the Depot Theatre in Westport I’m going to show you what I’ve been up to. I’ll be joined by several crafty raconteurs, Steven Kellogg, Jeff Moredock and David Glenn, and together we’ll explore the lives, legends and landmarks of our village in quirky, possibly even unorthodox ways. The result, I hope, will be “gritty, unpolished and playful“. And, perhaps we’ll inspire you to explore Essex in new, creative and possibly even whimsical ways.

Much of the content for Tuesday’s performance originally germinated from the Essex community blog, and many of the images and vignettes you’ll experience are part of a soon-to-be-launched print book, ebook and website called, The Doodler’s Guide to Essex, NY. This ongoing project is an effort to crowdsource the most engaging information (especially visual information) about our village in a way that is entertaining and informative for visitors and residents alike. In other words, it’s a chance for you to dive into the creative process, to share your perspective on what makes Essex unique. Care to share? This is your chance!
I hope to see you next week at the Depot. And if you’d like to share an Essex doodle, please let me know. Thanks!
