You want to know how to doodle Essex? No rules… Just do it!
I’ll return to this topic from time to time in the coming months because I know it’s always helpful to receive pointers, but I’m serious when I tell you that there are no rules. When it comes to doodling, there should never be any rules. I’ll share some optional (and hopefully helpful) guidelines, but remember, there’s no right or wrong way to doodle. Period.
If you’re one of those paint-by-pictures types, or even just a doodler waiting for a few good ideas to prime your creative pump, I’ll pass along some tips on how to doodle.

- Don’t think about what other people will think. Just focus on your drawing, and go with your instincts.
- Don’t worry about erasing… Use your “mistakes” to guide your doodles in a more creative direction…
- Be creative and draw real-life objects, but give them a… cartoony look.
- Try using different kinds of fillings for some solid objects or add lines to the edges of a drawing or piece of art to add a 3-D effect. (wikiHow)
Another clever idea proposed in this article is to Doodle what you hear. Because doodling is experienced visually it’s easy to overlook the fact that you don’t need visual inspiration to doodle. Try starting with a song, a sound, an overheard conversation…
