Get ready to be captivated as the Lake Placid Sinfonietta launches its highly 2023 season, “Magic in the Mountains” with the first of its’ enchanting Park Series Concerts on Thursday, July 6, at 7 PM. Brace yourself for music at its finest, with an unparalleled view of Mirror Lake while you listen. Seating is limited, so make sure to bring your own cozy blankets or camp chairs to lounge on as you immerse yourself in the music. These are concerts for the whole family and children of all ages are welcome to join in the musical wonderland!
This six-concert series will continue on the next five following Wednesday evenings. Each concert will begin at 7 and last approximately one hour, leaving you with an evening full of possibilities. Many concertgoers relish the opportunity to relish a picnic during the performance, and as the final note fade away, you’ll find an array of exquisite restaurants within walking distance, awaiting your arrival. All of these concerts are free of charge to attend, but donations are always appreciated. A nightly raffle of goods donated by area merchants will also be held in support of the orchestra.
The July 6 concert, aptly named “American Abracadabra,” promises an exhilarating celebration of the week of July 4th! Prepare to be swept away by the iconic “Stars and Stripes” as it reverberates through the air. In addition, the program will feature a work by Lake Placid’s own Victor Herbert, “Pan Americana,” and the beloved patriotic anthem, “God Bless America.” Prepare to be mesmerized by Leroy Anderson’s delightful composition, “Fiddle Faddle,” and indulge in selections from the timeless masterpiece, “The Music Man.”
The Sinfonietta’s captivating concert series continues to weave its magic on the next five Wednesday evenings. On July 12, at 7 PM, immerse yourself in the enchanting “Crystal Ballroom.” Witness the astonishing “Now You See It…” concert, sponsored by Price Chopper’s Golub Foundation, on Wednesday, July 19. Brace yourself for the captivating “Wizard’s Tale” on Wednesday, July 26, as the symphony transports you through the realms of Broadway and the grand opera houses of the world. The mesmerizing “Hocus Pocus” on Wednesday, August 2, will present delightful tunes from Rigoletto, Naughty Marietta, and West Side Story. Finally, on Wednesday, August 9, embrace the allure of the “Sorcerer’s Wand,” sponsored by NBT Bank, as the symphony carries you on a melodic journey from Mozart to Sousa!
Prepare for an extraordinary summer filled with music as the Lake Placid Sinfonietta takes center stage, performing a total of 16 times between July 6 and August 13. In addition to the Park Series, the Lake Placid Sinfonietta will grace the Lake Placid Center for the Arts with six captivating performances on July 9, 16, 22, 30 and August 6 and 10. Also, an exclusive morning children’s concert will be held at St. Agnes School on July 21. The symphony will also travel to Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, and North Creek, bringing their amazing sound audiences across the Adirondacks.
