Lake Champlain Yoga & Wellness (LCY&W) and owner Michelle Maron were featured in Strictly Food for Thought in an article written by Meg LeFevre.
Although the article focuses on Michelle and LCY&W, it also discusses our region’s enrichment due to the recent establishment of a wellness corridor — with not only the abundance of yoga and other holistic health practices/practitioners here, but also the creation of multiple CSAs in the area and Champlain Area Trails which increases outdoor recreation opportunities — and an overall revitalization of Essex.
The article begins,
“In the North Country we love to promote our rich history, especially in places like Essex, New York, where the entire hamlet is on the National Register of Historical Sites. The town embodies American history, with large Greek revival homes, well-preserved inns and churches and character-filled lakefront shops on tree lined sidewalks. With committed investors and brave business owners, Essex is experiencing a revitalization, and not just during the typically busy summer months.” (Strictly Food for Thought)
[pullquote]Michelle’s weekly yoga classes attract committed year-round clientele from Essex, Plattsburgh, Keeseville, Willsboro, Westport, Elizabethtown, Keene and Keene Valley. From July 4 to August 15 the town of Essex is full of second homeowners and tourists, and her classes reflect the increased seasonal population. (Strictly Food for Thought)[/pullquote]
The latter sentence is referring to the success of the Up North Yoga Conference — featured on this blog and in the Press Republican — hosted in Essex this past fall that drew 60 participants to the town in the “off-season.” It also refers to the general success of LCY&W which is open year-round and has been experiencing solid growth.
Michelle says that it hasn’t been easy but with an “extremely supportive community, finding and working with a great combination of wellness professionals and her own business background” LCY&W is flourishing.
Along with yoga, LCY&W also offers massage, acupuncture, organic facials, and often holds a variety of wellness workshops.
When asked about the article, Michelle Maron had this to say:
“An excellent article in Strictly Food for Thought by Meg LeFerve describing the evolution of Lake Champlain Yoga & Wellness in Essex, NY. Very well done and LCY&W is thrilled to be highlighted in this up-and-coming magazine!”
