What: Lake Champlain Committee Cyanobacteria Information Session
When: Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 5:00 PM POSTPONED (We will share the news when it is rescheduled.)
Where: Essex Town Hall, Essex NY
Why: A cyanobacteria bloom occurred along the Essex, NY shoreline earlier this week. Blooms can show up anywhere so everyone who uses waterways should learn how to recognize and avoid them.
Lake Champlain Committee (LCC) staff will provide an overview of cyanobacteria and why it’s a concern. We’ll cover what cyanobacteria are, the drivers that trigger blooms and provide tips on how to keep people and pets safe. Someone from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will be on hand to discuss the state’s harmful algal bloom program.
