Beverly Boisen perfectly captured a glimpse of Essex, NY in this nautical doodle.
While observing Essex residents and visitors doodling at our Downtown Essex Day 2013 booth on August 7, 2013 I was repeatedly amazed with the simplicity with which doodlers can capture Essex. A few quick lines and “Poof!” a familiar Essex view, person, experience or feeling appeared where only a moment before the blank page had promised much but offered so little. Magic? Yes, the magic of doodling.
Doodle Tip: Beverly Boisen’s Minimalism
The Essex Doodle above, created by Beverly Boisen, is so appealing precisely because of its elegant minimalism. Fewer than a dozen straight and squiggly lines, and a scene is born. More than a scene… A feeling. For me, this doodle quite literally conveys an Essex emotional state!
Thank you, Beverly Boisen. We hope you’ll doodle again. Soon!
