The new Essex Shipyard restaurant will be opening on Thursday, June 6! We’ve told you about how the former Rudder Club has been transformed and have been keeping you updated on the approaching opening of the new restaurant Chez Lin & Rays. We’re happy to announce that you can go enjoy this new restaurant next week!
Co-chef/owner Linda Faville quickly filled me in on the plan to move the opening date as all this rain delayed some of the final preparations:
Things are hectic, but moving along. We have decided to move our opening forward a few days to June 6, to ensure we are ready. We are still in the process of hiring and training. We are also repairing and painting the outside deck, between rainstorms. Can’t wait to finally be open!
Chez Lin & Rays will be serving lunch and dinner right on the water. Indoor and outdoor dining is available. The tentative operating season will be June 6th to mid-Sept. They will be serving every day all day starting at 11:30 am.
Find sample menu items and more on their blog.

Especially for those of us who are not “on campus” it would be helpful to have phone numbers for info on all events and places. Would be good for the events and places also! Is 4024 the restaurant number – or only the Shipyard’s?
Will Lin and Ray’s take reservations?
Looking forward to it!
4024 is the number for the restaurant and the Shipyard. Chez Lin & Rays will take reservations.
Great point, Carol. Thanks! And thank you, Ray, for answering right away. I’ll update the post with the relevant information ASAP.
