The Belden Noble Memorial Library is planning a new series to begin in May. It’s called Meet Your Neighbors and will highlight some of truly amazing things that your friends and neighbors have been doing. Here’s the idea:
The program will be series of opportunities to meet and get to know several of our neighbors. Some are well known beyond the borders of Essex, others not so much, but each has made a mark in some profession or field of endeavor as an entrepreneur, artist, public servant, or volunteer. We believe their presence among us has contributed to the quality of life of our town and enriched our lives.
Beginning in May on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm, we will ask some of our neighbors – as individuals or couples — to talk about the interests and motivations that inspire their lives, the specific activity or activities that have absorbed their energies in both past and present, and how Essex has inspired or shaped these activities.
Each will be either interviewed or make a presentation, followed by questions from the audience. The events will be held at the library. Refreshments will be served. We anticipate each program will last an hour or so.
We will be announcing speakers soon. We are also hoping to line up volunteers to help. Roles for volunteers include
- Setting up and rearrangement
- Providing refreshments
- Helping with publicity
- Serving as an interviewer for some guest speakers
Please call the library at 518-963-8079 if you would like to help in any way.
