Take Your Child to the Library Day

Essex Library facade showing FLIP 2 improvements. — This year, take your child to the Essex Library on “Take Your Child to the Library Day!”

Next Saturday (February 1) is Take Your Child to the Library Day. Throughout New York State, public libraries are asking families to visit their libraries and fill out cards that will be delivered to Albany during Library Advocacy Day on February 26.

So come on in to the Belden Noble Memorial Library, check out all the library has to offer your children (and you!), and fill out one of the cards.

Athletes Promote Reading

Also, we thought you’d be interested into these two videos by local members of the U.S. Olympic ski team who urge young people to “jump into reading.” They are only 30 seconds each and very cool!

About Tom Mangano

Tom became the director of the Belden Noble Memorial Library in Essex after a 33-year career as technical editor at GE in Schenectady. In 2009, Tom received a master's degree in information science from the University at Albany. He became library director in Essex in 2011. Tom and his wife MaryAnne divide their time between Essex and Schenectady.
