Many North Country arts programs were awarded funding through the 2013 Decentralization (DEC) Grant! The DEC is a regrant program intended to help promote the arts in outlying regions. It is funded by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYCSA), and adminstered locally by the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts (NCCCA).
This was a year of change for arts grants in the North Country. The NCCCA now administers DEC grants to Essex, Clinton, and all of Franklin County. In addition, Arts Education grants are now under the DEC funding umbrella. And, for the first time the NCCCA also offered an Individual Artist grant. (NCCCA)
The NCCCA received more than thirty requests from the region encompassing all of Clinton, Essex and Franklin Counties. After reviewing all of the applications, twenty one projects were funded under the “Community Arts Grants” category, seven under the “Arts Education” category and one regional artist was selected for the “Individual Artist” Category.
