Performing:
Schubert, Die schöne Müllerin (The Fair Maid of the Mill)
A dramatic tenor with a spellbinding voice and matinee-idol looks, Jonas Kaufmann is one of the most prominent vocal artists of his generation. First prize–winner at the Meistersinger Competition in Nuremberg in 1993, since 1996 he has been a guest of the great international opera houses. In parallel with his career as an opera singer he has turned into a sought-after lieder singer, accompanied by his musical confederate the pianist Helmut Deutsch.
An essential cycle of Schubert’s, Die schöne Müllerin sets 20 poems by Wilhelm Müller to music and unfolds as a complete narrative, the various musical registers comprehensively expressing the protagonist’s wanderings. A journeying apprentice arrives at a miller’s house and falls in love with the daughter. The beautiful girl, caring at first, ends up surrendering herself to a hunter, and the poor visitor perishes of sorrow and despair.
Series presented as a coproduction with Pro Musica. (BorderlessNorth)

I have two tickets for this concert that I need to sell, since I cant make the trip from Boston due to family problems. If anyone needs them, please contact me at the e-mail above. It is going to be an extraordinary event, Kaufmann’s recording of this piece is the most beautiful ever made… Wish I could be there with all my heart.
Thanks, Katalin. A neighbor was actually just lamenting that the tickets were sold out… Maybe a match? Fingers crossed!
